Stalker 2: Science Side Quest Guide

In Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, players exploring The Zone will stumble upon various NPCs, triggering quests ranging from minor tasks to substantial side missions like "For Science!". This mission involves Skif meeting Yaryk Mongoose, who needs help activating a second measuring device atop a silo. While short, it rewards players with a Malachite pass, granting access to the STC Malachite facilities.

Initiating the "For Science!" Side Quest

The "For Science!" quest begins by locating Yaryk Mongoose in the Central Elevator area of the Chemical Plant. Upon approaching, Mongoose will radio Skif, requesting a meeting at the building.

Inside the Central Elevator, go left past the conveyor belts and ascend the rusted stairs. Mongoose is on the first floor; vault the railing to reach him. He'll explain the need to activate a second device on a nearby silo, initiating the mission once you agree.

Reaching the Silo's Peak

Exit the room and climb to the building's roof. Eliminate any rodents encountered. A room with broken windows provides access to an external walkway and ladder. Descend to the silo's connecting walkway.

Equip your bolt-action weapon to counter electro anomalies en route to the second measuring device. Proceed left along the silo's top to activate the device. Activating it will attract Bloodsuckers. Choose to fight or evade them to reach Mongoose.

Confronting Yaryk Mongoose

Returning to Mongoose, he'll explain the experiment's unintended consequences. Players can choose to kill Mongoose for endangering Skif or accept the reward peacefully. Neither choice significantly impacts the game's progression. Killing him allows looting the Malachite pass; choosing the peaceful option provides the pass and coupons. The pass unlocks the STC Malachite base, unless already accessible through main missions.
