Stellar Blade DRM and Region Lock Issues Addressed Ahead of PC Release

Stellar Blade’s developer has tackled concerns over DRM and region lock restrictions for the upcoming PC release. Discover how DRM impacts gameplay and the steps being taken to address regional access issues.

Stellar Blade PC Enhancements

SHIFT UP Clarifies DRM Implementation

As Stellar Blade prepares for its PC debut, developer SHIFT UP has responded to fan concerns about Denuvo DRM. In a May 17 post on Twitter (X), they explained that "DRM is finely tuned to preserve consistent frame rates, with improved minimum frame rates in certain scenarios."

DRM, an anti-piracy measure, prevents unauthorized game copying but has sparked debate due to claims it hampers performance. SHIFT UP’s performance tests, however, show negligible differences in average, minimum, maximum, 1% low, and 0.1% low frame rates with or without DRM.

The studio also confirmed full mod support, unrestricted by DRM, addressing another common concern. While fans praised SHIFT UP’s transparency, many still hope for a DRM-free version to enhance accessibility.

Addressing Region Lock Challenges

Region lock issues tied to PlayStation Network (PSN) restrictions have also raised concerns for Stellar Blade’s PC release. Over 130 countries lack PSN support, limiting access despite the game not requiring a PSN connection.

SHIFT UP stated they are "actively collaborating with the publisher to resolve most region lock issues swiftly." They assured fans that both PC and PS5 versions will deliver identical content, ensuring early buyers face no disadvantages from future updates.

While fans value the developer’s efforts, many prefer a fully DRM-free experience without PSN restrictions. Stellar Blade’s PC version launches on Steam on June 11. Stay informed with the latest updates in our article below!
