原田胜弘曾多次表达希望将上校桑德斯作为客串角色加入铁拳系列的愿望，甚至在YouTube频道中也公开表达过这一想法。然而，他的提议最终被肯德基和他的上司否决，令他感到失望。
游戏设计师Michael Murray在接受采访时进一步解释了原田胜弘与肯德基之间的沟通情况。据他透露，原田胜弘曾亲自联系肯德基，但对方对这一想法并不热衷。Murray表示，虽然上校桑德斯后来确实出现在其他游戏中，但这说明这类合作洽谈的难度之高。
原田胜弘曾表示，如果拥有完全的自由，他“梦寐以求”的是将上校桑德斯加入铁拳。他和池田导演甚至为此角色设计了方案，并相信能够完美呈现。然而，肯德基的市场部门对这种联动并不热情，认为玩家不会喜欢。原田胜弘无奈地补充道：“每个人都反对我们，所以如果肯德基的任何人看到这篇采访，请与我联系！”
多年来，铁拳系列曾成功引入了许多令人惊喜的客串角色，例如街霸的Akuma、最终幻想的诺克提斯，甚至还有行尸走肉的尼根。但除了上校桑德斯和肯德基之外，原田胜弘还考虑过将另一个受欢迎的连锁餐饮店——Waffle House加入铁拳，但这似乎也不太可能实现。他曾表示，这并非他们单方面能够完成的事情。尽管如此，玩家们仍然可以期待游戏中复活的Heihachi Mishima作为第三个DLC角色回归。
