The Witcher: Sirens' Arrival on Streaming Platforms

Feb 19,2025 Author: Charlotte

Geralt of Rivia's voice, familiar to Witcher game fans, returns in Netflix's latest animated adventure, Sirens of the Deep. This animated film, a spin-off set during the first season of the Netflix series, features Doug Cockle reprising his iconic role.

IGN's Jarrod Jones notes in his review that while the pairing of Cockle's Geralt and Joey Batey's Jaskier holds appeal, its charm may be primarily for dedicated fans. Regardless, it might offer a satisfying interim experience until The Witcher 4 arrives.

Where to Stream The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep

The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep streams exclusively on Netflix. Netflix subscriptions start at $7.99/month (following recent price increases) and currently do not offer a free trial.

What is The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep About?

Based on Andrzej Sapkowski's short story "A Little Sacrifice" from Sword of Destiny, the film unfolds between episodes 5 and 6 of Netflix's Season 1. The official synopsis: "Hired to investigate attacks on a coastal village, mutant monster hunter Geralt uncovers an ancient conflict between humans and sea people, threatening inter-kingdom war. With allies, he must resolve the mystery before hostilities escalate."

The Broader Witcher Universe

The Witcher franchise originated with Sapkowski's book series, depicting Geralt in a Slavic-mythology-inspired world. CD Projekt Red's video game adaptations, especially The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, achieved critical acclaim, generating spin-offs and collaborations (including a real-life Gwent card game). The Witcher 4, featuring a new protagonist, was announced at the 2024 Game Awards.

Netflix launched its live-action series in 2019, with three seasons starring Henry Cavill. Season four, starring Liam Hemsworth as Geralt, premieres in April.

Voice Cast and Crew

Sirens of the Deep was written by Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin (also writers for the live-action series) and directed by Kang Hei Chul. Animation involved Studio Mir, Poland's Platige Image, and Hivemind.

The voice cast includes Doug Cockle (Geralt), Joey Batey (Jaskier), Anya Chalotra (Yennefer), Christina Wren (Essi Daven), and Emily Carey (Sh'eenaz).

Rating and Runtime

The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is rated MA and has a runtime of 1 hour and 31 minutes.
