Weekly Challenges: New Mode in The Battle of Polytopia
May 28,2025Author: Aria
The Battle of Polytopia has recently added a thrilling new layer of competition with the introduction of Weekly Challenges, giving players a fresh way to sharpen their skills in this beloved 4X strategy game. Read on to discover everything you need to know about this exciting update.
Before the Update
The game has always been known for its unpredictable nature, thanks to its diverse array of enemies, resources, and procedurally generated maps. However, with this new free update, the competitive aspect has become more structured.
What’s New in Weekly Challenges
Each week, every player is given the same map, tribe, and identical gameplay conditions. The goal is simple yet challenging: achieve the highest possible score within 20 turns. Players can attempt this challenge once daily, meaning a maximum of seven attempts per week.
One of the most appealing aspects of Weekly Challenges is the opportunity to explore tribes you may not own yet. While the game features 16 tribes in total—four included with the base game and 12 available for purchase at $1-$4 each—the Weekly Challenges ensure everyone competes as the same tribe, regardless of ownership.

Could Weekly Challenges Elevate the Game?
There’s reason to believe they will. Alongside the new challenges, a League system has been introduced. Everyone begins in the Entry League, with rankings adjusting weekly. The top third of players advance, the bottom third regress, and the middle group remains unchanged.
As you progress through the leagues, the difficulty increases accordingly. For instance, Entry League opponents are set to Easy, while reaching Gold League means facing Crazy-difficulty AI bots. Skipping a week won’t cause demotion, but your rank will adjust based on others’ performances.
