Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour: A Paid Experience
May 17,2025Author: Samuel
Nintendo has unveiled the Switch 2 Welcome Tour, an innovative digital game designed to introduce players to the capabilities of the new Nintendo Switch 2. Unlike what many might expect, this isn't a complimentary pack-in with the console but a separate, purchasable digital title. The announcement came during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, where it was described as a "virtual exhibition" that delves into the new hardware through tech demos, minigames, and interactive elements.
The Switch 2 Welcome Tour lets players navigate a giant virtual model of the Switch 2 with their avatar, exploring and learning about its features in an engaging, museum-like environment. The tour includes entertaining minigames such as Speed Golf, Dodge the Spiked Balls, and a Maracas Physics Demo, which not only educate but also entertain.
Nintendo confirmed that the Switch 2 Welcome Tour will be available for purchase on the Nintendo eShop starting on the launch day of the Switch 2. While the concept has garnered interest, some fans expressed surprise and disappointment that it's not a free pack-in, especially given its educational value. As of now, no specific pricing has been announced for this digital game.
The Switch 2's launch lineup includes highly anticipated titles like Mario Kart World, Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster, and Deltarune Chapters 1 through 4. With the Switch 2 Welcome Tour as a paid option, consumers will need to decide how to allocate their budgets among these enticing options.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch on June 5, 2025, with a price of $449.99 USD, or $499.99 for the bundle that includes Mario Kart World. For a comprehensive overview of all the announcements from today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, you can check out our detailed recap.
