Nintendo Switch Games Upgraded for Switch 2: Breath of the Wild, Metroid Prime 4

May 07,2025 Author: Oliver

During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo unveiled exciting news for fans: nearly the entire Nintendo Switch library will be compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2. However, a select group of titles will receive enhanced "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" versions, boasting exclusive features. These include fan favorites such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and Mario Party: Jamboree.

Each of these upgraded editions comes with unique enhancements tailored to the game. Super Mario Party: Jamboree will feature the innovative "Jamboree TV" mode, introducing mouse controls, audio recognition, "more expressive rumble," and gameplay utilizing a new camera accessory.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom will benefit from enhanced resolution and framerate, as well as HDR support. Additionally, a new feature called Zelda Notes will be available through the Nintendo Switch Online app, offering voice guidance to help locate Shrines and Koroks, and the ability to share creations in Tears of the Kingdom via QR code.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land will receive a new story exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2, titled "Star-Crossed World," along with improved graphics and framerates.

New titles like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will incorporate mouse control capabilities, with 4K 60fps and HDR support, while Pokemon Legends: Z-A will feature enhanced resolution and framerates.

These upgraded versions will be available in both physical and digital formats. Owners of the original games on the Switch can purchase upgrade packs for Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Mario Party, and Kirby to enjoy these enhancements.

The presentation also highlighted third-party games receiving Nintendo Switch 2 Editions, including Civilization 7 with mouse support and Street Fighter 6 with exclusive game modes.

Nintendo teased these "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" games last week on a webpage, mentioning them in relation to the new Virtual Game Card system and noting that these editions cannot be transferred to the original Nintendo Switch via Virtual Game Card.
