Star Wars Jedi Power Battles Unleashes New Character

Aspyr's upcoming release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles features a surprising playable character: Jar Jar Binks. A newly released trailer showcases Jar Jar wielding a large staff in action-packed gameplay.

This isn't the only addition to the original 2000 release. Aspyr is significantly expanding the roster of playable characters, leveraging nostalgia while adding fresh content. Beyond lightsaber color customization and cheat code support, ten new playable characters have been revealed, with more promised. Jar Jar's inclusion is a particularly unexpected treat for fans.

The trailer highlights Jar Jar's signature chaotic style and distinctive voice lines. While some fans might have envisioned a more villainous "Darth Jar Jar" interpretation, the gameplay shows him utilizing a staff as his primary weapon. Jar Jar Binks will be available upon the game's launch on January 23rd; pre-orders are currently open.

Confirmed New Playable Characters:

  • Jar Jar Binks
  • Rodian
  • Flame Droid
  • Gungan Guard
  • Destroyer Droid
  • Ishi Tib
  • Rifle Droid
  • Staff Tusken Raider
  • Weequay
  • Mercenary

Aspyr's commitment to expanding the character roster demonstrates a dedication to enhancing the original game. The addition of diverse characters, including droids and iconic Star Wars figures like the Staff Tusken Raider and Rodian, promises a richer and more varied gameplay experience. The developer's experience with other Star Wars game re-releases, such as Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, will hopefully inform their approach to ensuring Jedi Power Battles meets the expectations of longtime fans. With launch just weeks away, players eagerly anticipate the opportunity to experience these new additions firsthand.
