After just under a year on the market, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is winding down operations. Activision has announced that the mobile adaptation of the renowned battle royale game will no longer receive seasonal updates or fresh content, and it has been removed from both the App Store and Google Play as of May 18th. If you haven't downloaded the app by this date, you will no longer be able to access it. Real-money transactions have been disabled, signaling the beginning of the end for this mobile endeavor.
The decision to pull Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile marks an abrupt closure to what was intended to be a significant expansion of the Warzone universe tailored for mobile users. Although Activision praised the game for its faithful recreation of the Warzone experience on mobile devices, it seems that the title did not resonate as strongly with the mobile gaming community as it did with PC and console players.
For those who have already installed the game, online access and matchmaking will continue past May 19th. However, social features have been turned off, and there is no set date for when the servers might shut down completely. The in-game store remains open for now, but only for players with existing COD Points; no new purchases can be made.
As a gesture of goodwill, players with unused COD Points from Warzone Mobile can transfer them to Call of Duty: Mobile. This redemption period is available until August 15th. By logging into Call of Duty: Mobile with the same Activision account, you will receive double the value of your remaining Warzone Mobile COD Points, along with additional in-game rewards.
If you have not yet installed or reinstalled Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile by May 19th, you will miss out on this opportunity. No refunds will be issued post this date, underscoring a disappointing end to what was a highly anticipated mobile title and a stark reminder that even the biggest franchises can struggle to maintain long-term success on mobile platforms.
