Nintendo Cited in PS5's Death Stranding 2

PlayStation 5 players who've finished Death Stranding 2: On the Beach discovered an unexpected Nintendo reference in the Sony-published game's credits - specifically Nintendo Pictures, Mario creator's motion capture studio acquired in 2022.

This marks the first time Nintendo Pictures has been credited in a non-Nintendo game since its acquisition. As VGC notes, there's likely a simple explanation: development began before Nintendo's purchase when the studio was still called Dynamo Pictures.

The game's 2022 reveal trailer at The Game Awards featured motion-captured scenes with Norman Reedus and Lea Seydoux that may have used the studio's services.

Industry analysts suggest Nintendo Pictures (formerly Dynamo Pictures) was contracted before Nintendo's purchase and continued the work per existing agreements. The studio previously contributed to the original Death Stranding, making their return likely planned early in development.

Credits list Nintendo Pictures staff including motion capture directors, editors, coordinators, and advisors who worked on Death Stranding 2.

Since becoming Nintendo Pictures, the studio has focused exclusively on Nintendo titles including Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Pikmin 4, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Future involvement with third-party projects remains uncertain.
