If you're in the market for expansive local storage, you've stumbled upon one of the most compelling deals currently available. For a limited time, Amazon is offering the massive Seagate Expansion 22TB USB 3.0 Desktop Hard Drive for just $249.99, including shipping. That's a steal at an average of only $11.36 per terabyte. This deal is being sold by QuickDealStore, a marketplace vendor with an 85% rating from 460 reviews over the past year. As always, Amazon provides a 30-day return guarantee for peace of mind.
Update: Seagate's own online store is also offering this drive for a slightly lower price of $239.99.
Pricing:
The Seagate Expansion is equipped with a single 22TB disk drive, ensuring it's no larger than your typical desktop hard drive. It features a USB 3.0 interface, which won't bottleneck the drive's performance, and comes with a USB 3.0 cable. The package also includes recovery software and is automatically recognized by both Windows and Mac computers.
While SSDs are currently popular, traditional hard drives remain the top choice for long-term storage due to several key advantages. They are significantly more cost-effective; this hard drive offers storage at $11.36 per terabyte, whereas a comparable SSD would cost you at least $50 per terabyte. Additionally, hard drives offer much higher capacity limits. While consumer SSDs typically max out at 8TB, this drive boasts a whopping 22TB. Perhaps most crucially, although SSDs can match HDDs in terms of lifespan, data recovery from a failed HDD is generally easier than from an SSD.
