If you're eagerly anticipating the launch of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 and 5090 graphics cards, which will be available for pre-order starting January 30, you're in luck. Adorama has already made it possible to secure one of these highly sought-after GPUs by listing several pre-built gaming desktop PCs equipped with these cutting-edge cards. This presents a unique opportunity for those looking to buy a complete system, as these GPUs are expected to be in extremely high demand. While Adorama suggests a shipping date of February 11, it's wise to approach this estimate with some skepticism.
The Nvidia 50 series GPUs, unveiled at CES 2025, bring a significant focus on enhanced AI capabilities, with the new DLSS 4 technology promising to quadruple frame rates with minimal visual compromise. While these GPUs do offer a performance increase, opinions vary on their value compared to the RTX 40 series, particularly for traditional gaming performance.

The RTX 5090 is set to become Nvidia's flagship GPU, succeeding the RTX 4090. The pre-built desktops featuring this GPU are priced higher than those with the RTX 4090, reflecting the standalone RTX 5090's $400 premium over its predecessor. In our review, Jacqueline Thomas noted that the RTX 5090 surpasses the RTX 4090 in performance, though the improvement is modest for non-AI gaming. However, DLSS 4 significantly enhances performance in compatible games, though it relies heavily on AI-generated frames.

The RTX 5080 is positioned as Nvidia's second most powerful GPU. With 10,752 CUDA cores and new GDDR7 memory, it is expected to offer performance between the RTX 4080/4080 Super and the RTX 4090. Priced starting at around $2,300, it represents a competitive option, especially when compared to the cost of a gaming PC with an RTX 4080 Super.
