This exciting news comes as part of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of *Avatar: The Last Airbender*, crafted by the original creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.
*Avatar: Seven Havens* is set to be a 26-episode, 2D animated series that promises to immerse viewers in a gripping narrative. The story follows a young Earthbender who steps into the role of the next Avatar after Korra. In a world ravaged by a cataclysmic event, this new Avatar faces a unique challenge: instead of being hailed as a savior, she's feared as a potential destroyer. Pursued by both human and spirit foes, she must embark on a perilous journey with her long-lost twin to unravel their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens—the last bastions of civilization.
DiMartino and Konietzko expressed their excitement about expanding the *Avatar* universe, saying, "When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters."
The series is divided into two seasons, with a 13-episode Book 1 and a 13-episode Book 2. DiMartino and Konietzko are co-creating the series alongside executive producers Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi. While the cast has yet to be announced, anticipation is already building.
This marks the first mainline TV series from Avatar Studios, who are also busy developing a full-length animated movie centered around an adult Aang. This movie is slated for a theatrical release on January 30, 2026, and will showcase Aang on a fresh adventure.
