With 2026 now upon us, let's explore what Hollywood has prepared for the next twelve months, spanning horror, sci-fi, superheroes, fantasy, and everything Disney and Pixar have lined up. The current trend? Sequels. Prequels. Remakes. Or essentially anything tied to a franchise or rooted in established IP. Out of more than 50 films on this list, only two or three are standalone originals—so let's dive right in!
The MCU is going supermassive with Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday, while the DCU lands a bit softer (though still spectacularly) with Supergirl and Clayface. Pixar has Hoppers in the pipeline, but its biggest release is Toy Story 5, as Disney takes risks with Hexed while banking on a surefire hit with the live-action Moana.
Steven Spielberg, Christopher Nolan, Sam Raimi, and M. Night Shyamalan all have new projects this year, while horror fans are in for a treat with Primate, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, Evil Dead Burn, Lee Cronin's The Mummy, Zach Cregger's Resident Evil, and Robert Eggers' Werwulf. The animated lineup features The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Coyote vs. Acme (finally!), Minions 3, The Cat in the Hat, plus Hexed and Hoppers.
