MercurySteam, the studio behind Blades of Fire, boasts a lineage deeply rooted in gaming history. Many of its developers hail from Rebel Act Studios, creators of the legendary Severance: Blade of Darkness. Released in 2001, Severance captivated players with its groundbreaking limb-severing combat, a brutal and realistic approach that significantly influenced Blades of Fire.
But Blades of Fire isn't just a nostalgic throwback. It also draws inspiration from modern action-adventure giants, notably the cinematic combat and richly detailed world of Santa Monica Studio's God of War reboot. The result? A thrilling blend of fast-paced action and RPG elements designed for an immersive and captivating experience.
A key feature is Blades of Fire's innovative weapon crafting system. Players forge their own blades, meticulously customizing length, weight, durability, and balance to perfectly match their combat style. This level of personalization ensures a truly unique and satisfying gameplay experience.
The game follows the courageous warrior Aran de Lira as he confronts a formidable foe: a cunning queen with the power to transform metal into stone. Aran's journey will test his mettle against 50 distinct enemy types, each demanding a strategic and adaptable approach.
Prepare for battle! Blades of Fire launches on PC (Epic Games Store), Xbox Series X|S, and PS5 on May 22, 2025.
