Dedicated PlayStation State of Play Announced
PlayStation confirmed Borderlands 4 will headline its own State of Play showcase via Twitter/X on April 29. The special broadcast airs April 30 at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET / 10 PM BST / 11 PM CEST across PlayStation's official YouTube and Twitch channels. See regional timings below:
Gearbox Software developers will present over 20 minutes of exclusive gameplay footage during the stream, as detailed in PlayStation's April 29 blog post. Viewers can expect mission walkthroughs, weapon showcases, Action Skills demonstrations, plus reveals about both new and returning characters.
Launch Date Pushed Forward to September 12
Shortly after the State of Play announcement, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford accidentally revealed an earlier release date through a since-deleted Twitter/X video on April 29. Pitchford explained the development progress exceeded expectations, enabling the schedule adjustment.
Originally slated for September 23 following February's State of Play reveal, Borderlands 4's official Twitter/X account confirmed the new September 12 launch date. Their statement cited extensive playtesting and development breakthroughs as justification for moving the date forward by nearly two weeks.

Gearbox promises this installment will surpass previous franchise entries in quality. With the accelerated schedule, players will explore the new planet Kairos sooner than anticipated.
