Breaking: Square Enix Announces End of Service for Romancing SaGa Re:universe

Romancing SaGa Re:universe's global server is closing on December 2nd, 2024. While the Japanese version continues, this marks the end of a four-year run for the global edition, launched in June 2020.

Two Months Remain

With the December shutdown looming, in-app purchases and Google Play Point exchanges have already ceased following the September 29th, 2024 maintenance.

Despite stunning visuals, a strong soundtrack, and a generous gacha system, the global version garnered mixed reception. Unlike its popular Japanese counterpart, the global release lacked significant content updates, notably the Solistia expansion and 6-star unit upgrades—content available in Japan for nearly a year. This content disparity contributed to player attrition.

Community Reflections

Square Enix has closed several games this year, including Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius and two Dragon Quest mobile titles, adding Romancing SaGa Re:universe (global) to the list.
