After 25 years, the beloved role-playing game *Breath of Fire IV* has been resurrected on PC, thanks to Capcom. Originally launched on the PlayStation in 2000 across Japan and North America, and a year later in Europe, the game saw a PC port in Europe and Japan in 2003. Now, through GOG's ongoing Preservation Program, fans can enjoy this classic fully updated for modern PCs, available DRM-free on their platform.
The game follows the journey of Ryu, a man with the unique ability to transform into a dragon. Alongside a band of warriors, Ryu's mission is to thwart an emperor's plans to destroy the world. This updated version of *Breath of Fire IV* is optimized for contemporary systems, ensuring compatibility with Windows 10 and 11. It features both English and Japanese localizations, enhanced graphics through an upgraded DirectX renderer, and new display options including Windowed Mode, V-Sync, Anti-Aliasing, and refined gamma correction for superior visuals. Additionally, the audio engine has been improved, bringing back missing environmental sounds and introducing new configuration options for an immersive experience.
