Clair Obscur Studio Announces Official Esquie Plushie, Cautions About Scams

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 features a host of unforgettable characters, but few bring as much delight as Esquie—the game’s charming, giant companion who feels like a natural mascot. Sandfall Interactive is cautioning fans about counterfeit merchandise being sold online featuring Esquie, while also hinting that an official Esquie plush is currently in development.

In a post on X/Twitter from the official Expedition 33 account, Sandfall Interactive noted that several “suspicious” websites have emerged selling Esquie plushies.
“To be clear: any third-party websites selling Esquie plushies are NOT officially licensed,” the studio stated. “Many are using AI-generated artwork for promotion, and we strongly advise against buying from these sources—they may be scams.”

Still, as Esquie might say, there’s a wheee to balance the whooo. Sandfall confirms it’s actively working on creating official Esquie plushies and aims to release them as soon as possible. “In the meantime, please stay patient—and don’t get scammed!” the studio added.

Players who’ve experienced the game likely understand why an Esquie plush would be so sought after. If you haven’t embarked on Expedition 33 yet, Esquie is a towering ally you meet in Act 1 who becomes both a loyal companion and your primary means of traversing the overworld—evoking the same warm, comforting presence as Baymax from Big Hero 6.

It’s no surprise, then, that fans are eager for an official Esquie plush. The fact that Sandfall is pursuing one is reassuring. A quick Google search turns up unlicensed sites and multiple threads inquiring about Esquie plush vendors. To get the real deal from Sandfall and Kepler, you’ll need to wait a little longer. Whether the official plush will also be filled with wine remains unknown.

Last week, Sandfall Interactive rolled out patch 1.2.3 for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, fine-tuning the balance of Maelle’s Stendhal ability. Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron recently commended the game, calling its creators a “shining example of French audacity and creativity.”
