To begin “Canker,” speak with Gules in Semine. Conveniently, you can initiate this quest during Lord Semine and Agnes’s wedding, while Gules is enjoying a drink. Alternatively, find him on patrol in Semine. Simply inquire about his former bandit gang and offer your assistance in eliminating them. Canker is the first target.

Find and Kill Canker

Upon accepting the quest, Canker’s location, north of Nebakov Mill, will appear on your map. Be prepared for potential ambushes from bandits along the path. You can choose stealth, combat, or simply running past them. While individual bandits aren't overly challenging, repeated skirmishes can deplete your health before the main quest encounter.

Canker's hideout is nestled within the mountains, easily missed due to a narrow passage. Similar to accessing the Hermit's house in “Wedding Crashers,” you’ll need to navigate a small gap. Prepare for combat before entering, as you’ll face several bandits alongside Canker. Some bandits might flee depending on your kill order, but eliminating most is necessary. Canker himself will not flee, ensuring a guaranteed confrontation.

Finish the Quest and Return to Gules

After defeating Canker and his cohorts, loot Canker’s body. While you can take anything, you must acquire the Light Mace to complete the quest. Return to Gules with the mace to finish “Canker.”

Following the completion of “Canker,” wait a full in-game day before starting the next quest in the series, “Handsome Charlie.” Speak to Gules again once the day has passed.
