Disney has exciting news for fans of the beloved Toy Story franchise: Conan O'Brien has been cast in a key role for the upcoming *Toy Story 5*. The redheaded chat show host will lend his voice to a new character named Smarty Pants. O'Brien shared his involvement in a humorous skit on his official TeamCoco Instagram account, where he playfully suggested he wanted to voice either Woody or Buzz Lightyear, roles that will once again be filled by Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, respectively.
While details about Smarty Pants remain under wraps, fans are buzzing with speculation about this mysterious new addition. Could Smarty Pants be an electronic toy and perhaps a new antagonist for Woody, Buzz, and the gang? As the toys navigate a world increasingly dominated by gadgets and technology, Smarty Pants could play a pivotal role in their next adventure.
O'Brien's casting marks the first new character announcement for *Toy Story 5*, hinting at the significance of Smarty Pants in the story. This sequel will be the first major addition to the Pixar series since *Toy Story 4* in 2019. Despite the lukewarm reception of the 2022 spin-off *Lightyear*, Disney is eager to revitalize the main *Toy Story* brand.
Set to premiere on June 19, 2026, *Toy Story 5* will kick off a series of new sequels to classic Pixar films, including *Incredibles 3* and *Coco 2*. As the franchise continues to evolve, fans eagerly await what new adventures and challenges await their favorite characters.
