Rockstar Games, known for Grand Theft Auto, recently shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) promoting the British film *Marching Powder*, starring Danny Dyer, leaving many of its 21 million followers puzzled. Why is a gaming giant spotlighting a niche comedy? We break it down.

What’s behind Rockstar’s unexpected endorsement of this small-scale film? And who exactly is Danny Dyer? Here’s the full story.
Who is Danny Dyer?
Daniel John Dyer, widely known as Danny Dyer, is a celebrated actor from East London. In the UK, he’s a household name, often hailed as an “absolute legend.” For those unfamiliar with British slang, Urban Dictionary defines a “legend” as:
“Someone who perfectly blends humor, boldness, originality, and empathy, earning admiration from peers and inspiring others.”
Since 1993, Dyer has portrayed gritty, working-class characters, shaped by his candid public persona. Known for his outspoken views on social and political issues, he’s often seen as a “tough uncle” figure. In 2010, advising a *Zoo* magazine reader post-breakup, Dyer suggested a “wild night out with mates.”
Dyer’s colorful social media presence also adds to his charm, like this memorable post:
Can’t wait for bonfire night...it’s getting strapped to a massive rocket to join the other Furbys in the sky...

What’s Danny Dyer’s Link to Rockstar?
If you’re a *Grand Theft Auto* fan but don’t know Dyer, you’ve likely heard his voice. He voiced Kent Paul, the manager of the fictional band Love Fist in *GTA: Vice City*. He returned for *GTA: San Andreas*, managing the Gurning Chimps and producing for rapper Madd Dogg.
Beyond voice acting, Dyer’s deeper tie to Rockstar comes from *The Football Factory* (2004), a British film directed by Nick Love and produced by Rockstar Games, marking a rare venture into filmmaking for the studio.

*Marching Powder*, releasing this week in the UK and Ireland, reunites Dyer with director Nick Love. While not a sequel to *The Football Factory*, it echoes similar themes—football hooliganism, heavy drinking, drug culture, and sharp British humor.
Despite Rockstar’s post on X, the studio has no direct involvement in *Marching Powder*. Their promotion likely stems from their past collaboration with Dyer and Love on *The Football Factory*.
Will Kent Paul Appear in GTA 6?
In short: no clue. Rockstar’s post about *Marching Powder* isn’t a hint about *GTA 6*. Still, could Kent Paul make a comeback in *Grand Theft Auto 6*?
*GTA*’s timeline splits into the 3D era (PS2 and PSP games) and the HD era (*GTA 4* onward), treated as separate universes. This explains why *GTA 5*’s Los Santos differs from *San Andreas*’s version, and why 3D-era characters rarely appear in HD-era games.

That said, some connections exist. Grove Street from *San Andreas* appears in *GTA 5*, and gangs like the Ballas persist across eras. Lazlo, the notorious sleaze, also spans both universes. Notably, Kent Paul’s name appears on the Vinewood Walk of Fame in *GTA 5*.
So, could Kent Paul return in *GTA 6*? It’s plausible, but this X post about *Marching Powder* offers no hints.
