Get ready, gamers! *Death Stranding 2: On the Beach* is set to launch exclusively on PS5, with early access starting on June 24 for those who opt for the pricier editions. The standard edition will follow closely on June 26. Crafted by the visionary team at Kojima Productions, this sequel promises to build on the groundbreaking narrative of the 2019 original. Available in three distinct editions, let's dive into what each offers:
Out on June 26, the standard edition is priced at $69.99 and can be found at multiple retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, PS Direct, and the PS Store (digital). If you're looking for the game itself without the extras, or prefer a physical copy, this is your best bet. It includes the game and the digital preorder bonuses (more on that below).
Priced at $79.99, the digital-only deluxe edition is available at the PS Store. Along with the digital copy of the game, you get:
Exclusive to the PlayStation Direct store, the Collector’s Edition is priced at $229.99. It includes a treasure trove of goodies:
Preorder *Death Stranding 2* and you'll receive the following in-game items:
If you're new to the series or want to refresh your memory before diving into the sequel, the *Death Stranding: Director’s Cut* is currently on sale. You can grab it for PC on Steam for $16 at Green Man Gaming or for $19.99 directly on Steam. PS5 players can access the PS4 version (non-Director’s Cut) through PS Plus Extra.
*Death Stranding 2: On the Beach* is a direct sequel to the 2019 original, set 11 months after the birth of the UCA. The world has been connected, deliveries automated, and a new faction is emerging. The game is filled with the signature weirdness of Hideo Kojima, and you can get a glimpse of it in the extensive trailer above, which even features a character reminiscent of Solid Snake. Here's the official description from the PlayStation Store:
“Embark on an inspiring mission of human connection beyond the UCA. Sam—with companions by his side—sets out on a new journey to save humanity from extinction. Join them as they traverse a world beset by otherworldly enemies, obstacles and a haunting question: should we have connected? Step by step, legendary game creator Hideo Kojima changes the world once again.”
