Deltarune's Switch 2 edition was unveiled during the recent Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 on April 2. This version will feature Chapters 3 and 4, along with exclusive features tailored for the next-gen console.
Toby Fox, the developer of Deltarune, shared in a Fangamer newsletter that the Switch 2 version will boast a unique "SPECIAL ROOM" utilizing the mouse functionality of the new Joy-Cons. Fox explained, "So, we made a very small SPECIAL ROOM which takes advantage of using MOUSE CONTROLS ON TWO CONTROLLERS AT ONCE, only possible on the Nintendo Switch 2!!"
For those with non-Switch 2 devices, the special room remains accessible but with an alternative control scheme. Additionally, players can transfer their save files from the Nintendo Switch demo of Deltarune 1 and 2 to this new version.
In the newsletter, Fox also revealed that Deltarune will be priced at $24.99. This price includes Chapters 1 and 2, plus the newly released Chapters 3 and 4. Initially, Chapter 1 was released in 2018, followed by Chapter 2 in 2021, both offered for free. Although it was previously stated that Chapters 3-5 would be paid, Fox has now confirmed that these future chapters will be provided as free updates. He expressed, "But, it's my hope that as we complete more Chapters, you'll feel like this game was a super super super super good deal."
The game's soundtrack will be available on Steam for $14.99, featuring over 150 songs from the upcoming Chapters 3 and 4. Songs from future chapters will also be added at no extra cost. Deltarune aims to deliver exceptional value by offering future chapters and content for free.
