The quirky creature-collecting RPG, The New Denpa Men, is making a triumphant return to mobile devices. Initially a beloved title on the Nintendo 3DS, it later found a home on the Nintendo Switch. Now, fans can look forward to its release on iOS and Android on March 10th, as reported by Gematsu. This move to mobile platforms could hint at a potential global release, expanding its reach beyond its previous Japan-exclusive status.
The original The Denpa Men was a trailblazer in using augmented reality (AR) through the 3DS camera, a feature that will reportedly be included in this new mobile version. Players will once again have the chance to capture the unique Denpa Men from the real world and engage them in battles within various dungeons.
While the Denpa Men series may not boast the same fame as Mario or Zelda, it has carved out a niche for itself on Nintendo platforms over the years. Developer Genius Sonority is no stranger to mobile gaming, having previously released the original version of New Denpa Men on mobile before its remastering on the Switch.
This upcoming mobile release adds an interesting layer of complexity to the game's history—it's a rerelease of a mobile game that was remastered for the Switch. As the Switch version marked the series' first global launch, there's hope that the mobile version will follow suit and be available worldwide.
With Nintendo's recent push into the mobile market, the return of The New Denpa Men to smartphones is a strategic move that aligns well with current trends.
