Donkey Kong Country Returns HD is a refreshed version of a game that has seen multiple releases. Originally launched on the Wii in 2010, it was later re-released on the 3DS in 2013 with eight exclusive levels. This HD release for the Switch includes all levels from the original game plus the additional 3DS levels, offering a comprehensive experience.
As a challenging platformer, it retains its tough-as-nails difficulty but now includes an option to play in an easier mode borrowed from the 3DS version, providing extra hearts and assistance for players who need it. Expect to jump over perilous pits, swing on vines, launch out of barrels, gather bananas, and more. The game also supports two-player couch co-op once you find Diddy Kong, adding a fun multiplayer dimension.
Donkey Kong Country Returns HD is an exceptional game, and its arrival on the Switch breathes new life into this classic title. For more insights, check out our comprehensive 8/10 review of Donkey Kong Country Returns HD to see what's new and how it stacks up.
