Our review of the new RTX 5080 GPU is out, and the performance is nearly identical to the RTX 4080 Super. Worse yet, it's virtually impossible to find in stock, and pre-built systems are priced over $2,500. If you're considering an upgrade, we recommend an RTX 40-series GPU instead. For example, HP offers an HP Omen 35L RTX 4080 Super gaming PC for as low as $1,839.99 after a 20% discount using code "DUO20". This is an exceptional price for a liquid-cooled gaming PC capable of handling any game at any resolution.
This system features an Intel Core Ultra 5 245K CPU, GeForce RTX 4070 Super GPU, 16GB DDR5-6000MHz RAM, and a 512GB SSD for $1,699.99. Upgrade to the RTX 4080 Super for an additional $600, totaling $2,299.99. Apply the 20% off coupon code "DUO20" at checkout for the final price of $1,839.99.
The Intel Core Ultra 5 is Intel's latest 14-core Meteor Lake CPU, boasting a max turbo frequency of 5.2GHz. It's a powerful processor ideal for gaming and workstation tasks, AI-optimized with a dedicated NPU, and more energy-efficient than previous generations. Upgrading to a Core Ultra 7 or 9 offers minimal performance gains in high-resolution gaming, as performance is largely GPU-bound.
The RTX 4080 Super is Nvidia's second most powerful RTX 40-series card. It effortlessly handles any game at 4K with high frame rates, even with ray tracing enabled. It's 5-10% faster than the RTX 4080 due to its higher base clock speed, CUDA core count, and memory bandwidth. It rivals AMD's Radeon RX 7900 XTX, surpassing it in ray tracing and where DLSS 3.0 is supported. Its performance is nearly identical to the new RTX 5080, with the same VRAM.
Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 Super Review by Jacqueline Thomas
"The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 Super, much like the original RTX 4080, is a true 4K graphics card. In every test, it excels at this resolution with ample headroom, especially with Nvidia's DLSS. Even in games without DLSS or ray tracing, like Total War: Warhammer 3, the RTX 4080 Super is a powerhouse at 4K, achieving 79fps, compared to 76fps from the RTX 4080 and 86fps from the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX."
For a slightly higher price ($2,263.99 after the "DUO20" discount), this Omen 35L offers significant component upgrades:
The Omen 35L boasts a redesigned chassis for superior cooling in a smaller form factor. Internal components use standard form factors for easier upgrades. The front panel features two 140mm intake fans, complemented by a 120mm rear fan and a top-mounted 240mm all-in-one liquid cooling system for efficient heat dissipation.
