Dragon Age: Veilguard Offers Free Weapon DLC

Nov 27,2025 Author: Jacob

BioWare has largely moved beyond Dragon Age: The Veilguard, yet the remaining development team surprised fans by quietly releasing a small DLC weapons pack for the RPG.

The Dragon Age community was stunned when the game's Steam page updated yesterday to include free additional content called the Rook's Weapons Appearance Offer. While modest in scope, this unexpected addition comes as a pleasant surprise after EA previously indicated that Dragon Age: The Veilguard would receive minimal future support. Since the fifth patch in January stated updates would primarily address critical bugs, any new content feels miraculous - even if it's just cosmetic enhancements.

Interestingly, the Rook's Weapons Appearances bundle is exclusively available to current owners and those purchasing the PC version before April 8, 2025. The Steam page provides no details about the bundle's contents, though players discovered it unlocks Watchful weapon skins accessible in their character's in-game room. BioWare hasn't confirmed whether this offer will extend to PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S versions.

"Even if these appearances aren't the most, uh, beautiful things ever," reads one Steam review, "they do give spooky eldritch horror vibes!"

Reddit users expressed mixed reactions, with one commenter noting: "It's cosmetic DLC, but it's essentially free DLC for a game that's practically no longer getting newer content. I'll take what I can get."

Dragon Age: The Veilguard received generally positive reviews at its October launch, but EA reported it failed to "resonate with a broad enough audience." Key team members departed BioWare in late January amid layoffs and internal restructuring. EA confirmed to IGN the studio had redirected its "full focus" to the next Mass Effect project.

The RPG became part of PlayStation Plus March 2025 offerings just four months post-launch. No future plans for the title have been announced beyond this unexpected cosmetic addition.
