Dune: Awakening's sandworms: a force of nature, not a player's tool. Unlike the books, players can't summon sandworms.

The developers have designed sandworms as independent NPCs with programmed patrol routes and behaviors. While you can't summon them, actions like moving through the sand or using a thumper might attract their attention, but there's no guarantee. Riding sandworms, a key element of Freman culture in the books, is also absent, due to constraints from the Dune film franchise.
Future updates could add Freman-related content, possibly including worm-riding, but this isn't confirmed.
Dune: Awakening launches on PC May 20th, with console releases to follow.
