NieR: Automata offers a wide array of weapons, allowing players to experiment with different weapon types across multiple playthroughs. Each weapon boasts multiple upgrade levels, ensuring your favorites remain viable throughout the game. This guide focuses on acquiring Beast Hides, a crucial crafting material not readily available.
Obtaining Beast Hides in NieR: Automata
Beast Hides are obtained by defeating wildlife like moose and boar. These creatures appear randomly in specific map areas, generally avoiding players and robots. Their white icons on the mini-map distinguish them from the black icons of machines. Efficient farming is challenging due to their infrequent spawns.
Moose and boar inhabit the game's ruined city and forest zones. Their behavior (flight or attack) depends on your level relative to theirs; higher-level animals may become aggressive even at a distance. Wildlife possesses substantial health, making early-game encounters with similarly leveled or stronger animals difficult.
Animal Bait can lure wildlife closer, simplifying their defeat. Unlike consistently spawning enemies, wildlife respawns require specific actions:
- Fast traveling resets all enemies and wildlife.
- Traveling a sufficient distance triggers respawns in previous areas.
- Key story events can also lead to respawns.
There's no guaranteed, easy method for farming Beast Hides. Simply eliminate all wildlife encountered while exploring the forest and city ruins. The drop rate is relatively high, so accumulating an excessive number shouldn't be a concern unless upgrading more weapons than you can equip simultaneously.
