Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney shuts down Steam hopes for Alan Wake 2. A Reddit user's inquiry regarding a Steam release for Remedy's Alan Wake 2 received a blunt response from Sweeney: it won't be happening. The concise reply offered no further explanation, leaving the player to consider alternative platforms like Xbox.

This situation highlights the unique nature of Alan Wake 2's exclusivity. Unlike many Epic Games Store exclusives, Epic Games not only published the title but also co-funded its development with Remedy. While Remedy reported Alan Wake 2's sales met expectations and expressed satisfaction with the collaboration, they've since announced future self-publishing, opening the door for releases on platforms such as Steam. It's also noteworthy that, over a year post-launch, the game hasn't yet reached profitability.
