In Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, players hit a snag in Chapter 2: upgrading the Goromaru requires a hefty $10,000. This guide shows you the fastest ways to earn the necessary funds and continue your swashbuckling adventure.
The quest to upgrade your ship involves recruiting a shipbuilder and five crew members. While crew recruitment is relatively straightforward, the $10,000 ship repair presents a significant hurdle early in the game. Fortunately, there are efficient methods to amass the required funds.
Early in the game, three primary money-making avenues exist: collecting bounties, hunting treasure chests, and completing jobs in Honolulu. Treasure hunting, while viable, is time-consuming and requires venturing beyond Honolulu. Jobs offer a steadier income stream but might not be fast enough for those eager to advance the story.
Hidden treasure chests are scattered across Honolulu and various islands requiring raids. This method is less efficient than bounty hunting for quickly accumulating the $10,000 needed for the Goromaru upgrade.
Bounty hunting in Honolulu offers the quickest path to $10,000. While higher-value bounties (up to $16,000) exist, they present a significant challenge early in the game. A more strategic approach involves tackling lower-difficulty bounties yielding $2,000-$6,000 each.
Utilize Goro's Sea Dog fighting style for crowd control and switch to Mad Dog for one-on-one boss battles. Bounties are easily identified on the map by a red handcuff icon.
Approaching a bounty marker reveals its difficulty, reward, and target details. Complete the fight to earn your reward. Even a few lower-level bounties quickly add up to the $10,000 needed.
By strategically targeting and completing several lower-difficulty bounties, you'll amass the necessary funds to upgrade the Goromaru and progress the main storyline efficiently. While combat-intensive, this method provides the fastest route to upgrading your ship.
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
