GTA 6 Pushed to 2026: Must-Play Games for 2025

Sep 23,2025 Author: Jacob

The long-expected news has landed: GTA 6 is delayed. Initially set for a 2025 release, the highly awaited title is now slated for May 26, 2026.

Yet, 2025 promises to be far from a letdown for gamers. This year has already delivered stellar titles like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Blue Prince, and Split Fiction, with many more on the way. From Ghost of Yotei for samurai enthusiasts to Borderlands 4 for co-op thrills, and a new Nintendo console with its lineup, there’s plenty to dive into.

Here’s a rundown of what 2025 has in store beyond Grand Theft Auto 6.

What’s Coming Up?

With GTA 6 originally planned for later in 2025, your gaming schedule for the next few months is likely open. But fear not—major releases are just around the corner. Doom: The Dark Ages hits Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC on May 15, offering a gripping, gothic twist on the classic shooter. Soon after, Souls fans can jump into Elden Ring Nightreign on May 30 for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. This co-op roguelike ventures into fresh territory for FromSoft, promising a faster-paced take that could dominate your multiplayer sessions.

In June, buckle up for Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, launching exclusively on PS5 on June 26. Its trailers tease bold, bizarre concepts, set to outshine its delivery-sim predecessor. Meanwhile, Dune: Awakening arrives on PC on June 10—mind the sandworms and stay hydrated.

Switch 2

With GTA 6 delayed, the spotlight shifts to the Nintendo Switch 2, launching June 5 alongside its flagship title, Mario Kart World. Also dropping that day are enhanced Switch 2 versions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, boasting improved resolutions and frame rates. The Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour offers a mini-game tutorial, joined by third-party hits like Hogwarts Legacy, Spit Fiction, Street Fighter 6, Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, Cyberpunk 2077, and Fortnite.

July brings Donkey Kong Bananza on July 17, a vibrant 3D platformer for Switch 2. Later, expect Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, and the long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong, set to launch across platforms.

Heavy Hitters

The year’s end will bring a wave of blockbusters for the holiday season. Expect a new Call of Duty and EA Sports FC 26 to drop as Christmas nears.

September kicks off with two major shooters: Borderlands 4 on September 12, promising even wilder loot, and Marathon on September 23, an extraction shooter from the Destiny creators that’s generating buzz.

On October 2, PlayStation’s Ghost of Yotei delivers a gripping tale of vengeance against masked samurai, perfect for fans craving more after Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Other exciting titles, like The Outer Worlds 2 and Crimson Desert, are also expected to land in late 2025, though exact dates are pending.
