Guide: Farming Sharp Fang in Monster Hunter Wilds

Apr 15,2025 Author: Christian

In *Monster Hunter Wilds*, Sharp Fangs are a crucial crafting resource that you can start collecting early in the game. These fangs are essential for forging beginner-tier gear sets like Chatacabra and Talioth armor. To help you gather Sharp Fangs efficiently, here's a detailed guide on how to find and farm them in the Windward Plains.

How to Get Sharp Fang in Monster Hunter Wilds

To begin your hunt for Sharp Fangs, embark on one of the initial optional quests such as "Beware the Chatacabra" or "The Desert is Demanding." These quests will lead you to the Windward Plains, where you'll have a generous 50-minute time limit to explore. Before setting out, consider cooking and eating a meal to boost your performance.

Once in the Windward Plains, head east to Area 8, the largest area on the map, where you'll encounter various smaller monsters. While several of these monsters can drop Sharp Fangs, focusing on the Gaijos will yield the best results.

Gaijos

Gaijos are small leviathan monsters resembling crocodiles with unique snouts, often found near or in riverbeds. You can locate them by scanning the purple diamonds on the interactive map near water sources. Approach a Gaijos location and use your equipped weapon to quickly defeat them, as they have relatively low health. After defeating a Gaijos, carve its carcass to obtain 1 x Sharp Fang.

Gaijos are guaranteed to drop Sharp Fangs, making them a prime target. You can find around four to five Gaijos in the Windward Plains upon entering the region. To farm more Sharp Fangs, simply re-enter the Windward Plains through any of the optional quests.

Talioth

Another monster in the Windward Plains that can drop Sharp Fangs, though not guaranteed, is the Talioth. These bipedal creatures roam in small packs in Area 8 and occasionally in Area 13. While they are slightly tougher than Gaijos, they can still be taken down with starter weapons. Carving Talioth carcasses may yield other items like Talioth Scales, but there's also a chance to obtain Sharp Fangs. Additionally, hunting Talioths can help you complete the "The Desert is Demanding" quest, which requires you to kill 8 Talioths.

This guide covers the essential steps to farm Sharp Fangs in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more tips and strategies, check out our other guides, such as how to use the Great Sword, including all moves and combos.
