Halo 5 Rumors Debunked: The Truth Revealed

Summary

  • Lenovo debunks rumors of Halo 5 PC port, clarifying recent promotion image was a mockup design.
  • Halo 5 remains the only mainline title not on PC, despite Forge editor's 2016 release.
  • Microsoft's renewed interest in PC could mean Halo 5 may arrive eventually, but no concrete evidence yet.

Lenovo has put to rest the swirling rumors about a potential PC port of Halo 5: Guardians. A promotional image for the Lenovo Legion Go S suggested that the game might soon be available on Steam, but Lenovo confirmed that this was merely a mockup design.

Halo 5: Guardians stands out as the only mainline Halo game yet to be released on PC, following the launch of Halo: The Master Chief Collection on the platform several years ago. This absence is particularly notable for PC gamers eager to experience the full Halo saga without an Xbox One. Interestingly, while a PC version of the Halo 5: Guardians Forge editor was released in 2016, the complete game has never made its way to PC. Despite numerous rumors over the years, none have materialized into a concrete announcement.

The buzz about Halo 5: Guardians coming to Steam was reignited by the Lenovo Legion Go S mockup image. However, Lenovo's senior community manager, Ben Green, swiftly debunked these rumors with a straightforward "No lol" when questioned about a possible leak related to the upcoming Xbox Developer Direct event. As of now, the image remains on the Lenovo website, and any legitimate leak would typically be removed promptly. Green later added that he had forwarded the issue to Lenovo's design team for review.

Halo 5 PC Rumors Debunked by Lenovo

While the Lenovo incident does not confirm a PC release for Halo 5: Guardians, it does not completely rule it out either. Microsoft's increased focus on PC gaming in recent years suggests that there is a possibility the company might eventually bring all Halo titles to one platform. However, as of now, there is no solid evidence to support the imminent arrival of Halo 5: Guardians on PC.

The Halo franchise is currently navigating an intriguing phase. Halo Studios, formerly known as 343 Industries, is actively updating Halo Infinite with fresh content, yet there's a palpable anticipation among fans for new developments. Looking ahead to 2025, rumors are circulating about a potential remake of Halo: Combat Evolved and the possibility of The Master Chief Collection making its way to PlayStation. If these rumors hold true, it would mark a significant shift in direction for the franchise.
