Hayden Christensen Talks Anakin Return in Ahsoka at SW Celebration

Sep 23,2025 Author: Noah

One of the most exciting revelations from Star Wars Celebration is Hayden Christensen's return as Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka Season 2. After the big announcement, we sat down with Christensen to discuss reprising the role after nearly two decades, his appreciation for Star Wars' darker moments, and even his favorite Anakin meme.

Our conversation started by exploring which untold Anakin stories Christensen would like to bring to life. He enthusiastically shared his desire to "explore more Clone Wars-era stories" - a compelling idea since most live-action Clone Wars-era Anakin has been limited to brief appearances, with Matt Lanter voicing the character extensively in animation.

"I know my friend Ewan would be game for that too," Christensen added. "It's such a visually striking period in Star Wars with great storytelling potential. Who knows, maybe someday." While acknowledging the production would need creative aging solutions, his enthusiasm for continuing Anakin's journey remains undiminished.

A Long-Awaited Return to the Role

With Revenge of the Sith approaching its 20th anniversary, we discussed how the film remains one of the franchise's darkest entries. "George made bold creative choices while keeping the material digestible," Christensen reflected. "Take Anakin killing younglings - we understand what happens without graphic depiction. I appreciate when Star Wars explores darker themes."

Christensen shared fascinating insights about returning to the role after 20 years. "Of course it feels different - I'm different," he mused. "Two decades of life experience changes your perspective. Paradoxically, I feel more connected to Anakin now after all this time reflecting on his psychology."

The Great Star Wars Viewing Order Debate

When asked about the eternal debate over viewing order, Christensen took a balanced approach. "There's no single right way," he said. "George probably prefers chronological order, but starting with Episode IV has merit too. I've actually been contemplating this as I prepare to introduce my daughter to the films."

Actor's Favorite Meme Moment

Naturally, we had to ask about the many Anakin memes. While he enjoys the classic sand reference and the Padmé field scene, his current favorite features Palpatine pleading for help against Mace Windu, with Anakin responding: "He's just reflecting your lightning back... just stop shooting lightning!"
