It's official: the iPhone 16e is now available for preorder. Apple's latest addition to their smartphone lineup, the iPhone 16e, is set to hit the market on February 28, but you can secure yours right now. This innovative device, which combines the functionality of a mobile phone, an iPod, and an internet communication tool, comes in sleek black or white and starts at an affordable $599, making it the most budget-friendly option in the iPhone 16 series. Here's everything you need to know to preorder your iPhone 16e.
Available for preorder starting February 21, the iPhone 16e can be purchased from various retailers:
The iPhone 16e is Apple's latest entry-level smartphone, effectively replacing the iPhone SE, which was last updated in 2022. Unlike its predecessor, the 16e closely resembles the standard iPhone 16 in terms of size and specifications. While it's pricier than the SE's starting price of $429, it's still significantly more affordable than the standard iPhone 16 at $799 and even undercuts the iPhone 15, which starts at $699.
When you purchase an iPhone 16e, you're getting a device with a 6.1-inch OLED display, featuring a notch at the top of the screen instead of the "dynamic island" found on the standard iPhone 16.
Under the hood, it's powered by the same A18 chip as the standard iPhone 16, but with a 4-core GPU, which is one less core than the 16. This might slightly impact performance, but it still supports Apple Intelligence, ensuring you have access to all the AI features introduced in iOS 18. It also includes Apple's new C1 cellular modem, which should improve power efficiency and extend battery life. Apple claims you'll get up to 26 hours of video playback, compared to 22 hours on the standard iPhone 16.
On the downside, the iPhone 16e lacks MagSafe integration, meaning you can't use MagSafe chargers to power up your device. However, it does support Qi wireless charging, allowing you to charge it on a compatible wireless charger. Additionally, it's only available in black or white, unlike the more colorful options of the iPhone 16.
Despite these minor drawbacks, the iPhone 16e is poised to be a solid, budget-friendly addition to Apple's iPhone lineup.
If you've already preordered the iPhone 16e, consider protecting your investment with a screen protector. Amazon is offering an amFilm iPhone 16e Tempered Glass Screen Protector for just $5.99 after applying the coupon code "5PIM3OFI". This is a great early bird deal for those looking to safeguard their new device before it arrives. AmFilm is a well-known and trusted brand, and this model comes with an auto aligner and a camera lens protector.
Preorders are now live. You can preorder the iPhone 16e starting at 5 a.m. PT (8 a.m. ET) on February 21.
