Ironheart Star Reacts to MCU Show Backlash

Hamilton actor Anthony Ramos has responded to the premature criticism surrounding Marvel's upcoming Disney+ series Ironheart, which surfaced online even before the show premiered.
A delayed offshoot from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever centered on supporting character Riri Williams, Ironheart debuted its initial three episodes last week, with the concluding trio set to release tomorrow, July 1.
Despite zero episodes being available initially, negative audience reviews emerged - particularly targeting the series' decision to feature a Black female protagonist. Ramos has now shared his perspective on these early reactions.
"Negative feedback is inevitable regardless of the project," Ramos told Buzzfeed, drawing parallels with his experience in 2023's Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.
"After Transformers, people had strong opinions. Now with this series... Everyone's entitled to their views, but ultimately we stand behind our creative work.
"While we're not pioneers in this space, our approach is distinctly unique," Ramos added. "When you innovate, you naturally invite diverse reactions.
"Audience discussion matters - if people weren't talking at all, that's when real concern would set in."

The Chicago-set series follows Williams crafting a mystically-enhanced suit reminiscent of Iron Man's armor, aided by Ramos' character - a criminal figure called The Hood.
The production recently earned praise from MCU veteran Robert Downey Jr., who publicly endorsed lead actress Dominique Thorne via video message: "Simply put, Iron Man fully supports Ironheart."
Critical reception has varied, though Marvel continues generating anticipation by hinting at a significant comic book antagonist's appearance in the finale episodes.
