- Jetpack Joyride Racing is now scheduled to launch in mid-November
- Though it missed its original June release, the game continues to show great potential
- In JJR, players once again step into the shoes of Barry Steakfries and friends for some high-speed racing excitement
It's always disappointing when an anticipated game gets delayed, especially one we've been eagerly waiting for. Jetpack Joyride Racing did not make its initial June launch, but there's some positive news—the wait might not be much longer. The game's official listing has been updated with a new release date in November.
For those unfamiliar, Jetpack Joyride Racing (as the name suggests) transports the beloved characters and world of Jetpack Joyride into a classic kart racing format. But don't be fooled by the term "kart"—you'll be tearing up the tracks in all sorts of high-velocity vehicles.
The gameplay centers on fast, physics-based racing, with your vehicle swinging dynamically around each course. The experience recalls a bit of the PS1 hit WipeOut. With a tentative new release date set for November 13th, it looks like we won’t have to wait too long to play it.

Faster than a speeding bullet-powered jetpack
With multiple characters to choose from, including the legendary Barry Steakfries, and a host of promised features, it's understandable why Halfbrick Studios is taking their time with this release. Given that Jetpack Joyride Racing is also a major offering for their Halfbrick Plus service, fans are certainly hoping it arrives sooner rather than later.
When it does launch, the blend of rapid racing and physics-driven drifting is sure to attract those looking for a fresh twist on the franchise.
Jetpack Joyride Racing will definitely face strong competition in its genre. But that also means players have other great choices—check out our picks for the best racing games on iOS to see what else is available!
