Senior Game Designer Ondřej Bittner highlighted a new stealth mechanic involving accumulating dirt and grime, eventually leading to a "body odor" debuff that alerts nearby characters. The inclusion of "handgonnes," historically accurate early firearms with their inherent inaccuracy and long reload times, adds another layer of authenticity, even if intended as a somewhat humorous element.
PR Manager Tobias Stolz-Zwilling emphasized the game's commitment to plausible authenticity over hyper-realism, ensuring an engaging and enjoyable experience while maintaining historical integrity.
Warhorse Studios' post-launch roadmap ensures continued player engagement with free updates and paid DLC throughout 2025. Free updates include a barber feature, hardcore mode, and horse racing (Spring 2025 release). Paid DLC will follow, with "Brushes with Death" (Summer), "Legacy of the Forge" (Autumn), and "Mysteria Ecclesiae" (Winter).
KCD2's phenomenal opening weekend success positions it for continued commercial triumph, fueled by these updates and DLC, potentially breaking even more records in the future.
