"Lazarus: Cowboy Bebop Creator's New Anime Debuts Tonight"

Lazarus stands out as a groundbreaking original sci-fi anime series, masterfully directed by Shinichirō Watanabe, renowned for his work on Cowboy Bebop. However, as noted by critic Ryan Guar in his review of the first five episodes, Lazarus carves its own unique path, distinct from Watanabe's previous works. The animation, brought to life by the talented teams at Mappa Studio and Sola Entertainment, is complemented by action sequences designed by Chad Stahelski, the visionary behind the John Wick franchise.

Given the immense anticipation and intriguing premise, it's no surprise that Adult Swim has secured the rights to broadcast new episodes in the U.S. simultaneously with Japan. If you're eager to dive into the world of Lazarus, here's how you can watch the new episodes online:

Where to Stream Lazarus

Lazarus

In the year 2052, a miracle drug turns lethal, threatening humanity's extinction. The fate of the world rests in the hands of a team of outlaws known as LAZARUS, who have just 30 days to save us all. Catch this thrilling series on Max, where new episodes of Lazarus will be available to stream the day after they air on Adult Swim. That means you can enjoy new episodes of Lazarus on Max every Sunday. Subscriptions to Max start at just $9.99 and can be bundled with Disney+ and Hulu for an even richer viewing experience.

According to a Warner Bros. press release, subtitled versions of Lazarus episodes will be available on Max 30 days after the initial dubbed episodes air.

How to Watch New Episodes Live

Lazarus is set to captivate audiences in both Japan and the United States at the same time. In the U.S., you can catch the new dubbed episodes live on Adult Swim during their Toonami block on Saturday nights. Beyond traditional cable, Adult Swim is accessible through live TV subscriptions like Hulu + Live TV, which even offers a three-day free trial for new subscribers.

Lazarus Episode Release Dates

The first season of Lazarus will feature 13 gripping episodes. Each episode will be broadcast live on Adult Swim before becoming available on Max. Keep in mind that episodes premiere at midnight, which falls technically on Sunday, but is considered part of Adult Swim's Saturday programming block.

What Is Lazarus About?

Lazarus breaks the mold as an entirely original anime, not adapted from any manga or existing source material. The series unfolds in 2052, an era of unparalleled peace and prosperity, thanks to a revolutionary drug called Hapuna, developed by Nobel Prize-winning neuroscientist Dr. Skinner. But three years later, Dr. Skinner reveals a chilling truth: Hapuna has a short half-life, and everyone who has taken it will die within three years.

In response to this dire threat, a special task force named "Lazarus" is assembled from around the world. This elite group of five agents must race against time to find Dr. Skinner and develop a vaccine to save humanity from imminent doom.

Lazarus Voice Cast and Characters

  • Makoto Furukawa (Japanese) and Jovan Jackson (English) as Doug
  • Maaya Uchida (Japanese) and Luci Christian (English) as Christine
