How To Fix Marvel Rivals Compiling Shaders Slow on Launch

Jan 21,2025 Author: Alexander

Many Marvel Rivals players are experiencing extended shader compilation times on launch. This guide offers a workaround to significantly reduce this delay.

Addressing Slow Shader Compilation in Marvel Rivals

Game launches, particularly online titles, often involve various processes. However, the lengthy shader compilation in Marvel Rivals on PC is causing frustration. Shaders are crucial programs managing aspects like color and lighting in 3D environments. Incorrect shader installation can lead to various issues. Even with correct installation, some players are encountering this problem. Fortunately, a community-discovered solution exists.

A Marvel Rivals subreddit user, Recent-Smile-4946, provided a fix for excessively long shader compilation times (nearly five minutes in some cases). The solution involves adjusting Nvidia control panel settings:

  1. Access your Nvidia Control Panel.
  2. Navigate to global settings.
  3. Locate the Shader Cache Size setting.
  4. Set the Shader Cache Size to a value less than or equal to your VRAM. Note: Available options are limited (5GB, 10GB, 100GB). Select the closest value to your VRAM.

This method not only drastically reduces shader compilation time (to a few seconds) but also resolves "Out of VRAM memory" errors.

While this workaround is effective, players may prefer to wait for a developer fix from NetEase. As of now, NetEase hasn't publicly addressed the issue. To avoid prolonged loading times, consider trying this solution.

This concludes the guide on resolving slow shader compilation in Marvel Rivals at launch.

Marvel Rivals is currently available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
