Stun the Monster
Ebony Odogaron's speed is its most daunting trait, making it a challenging adversary. To counter this, stunning the monster is essential. Look for a nearby Flashfly to trigger; this will temporarily immobilize Ebony Odogaron. Alternatively, crafting Flash Pods to shoot at it can also halt its movements, giving you a critical window to attack.
Bring Teammates
Solo battles against Ebony Odogaron can be overwhelming due to its relentless attacks. To increase your chances of success, it's wise to call for backup using SOS signals. Other players might join your fight, or if no one responds, NPCs can assist. Use them as a buffer to dodge and wait for the monster to shift its attention away from you.
Pull Down Entangled Rocks
During your encounter, you'll find yourself in an area with Entangled Rocks overhead. Using your slinger to bring these down can stun Ebony Odogaron, albeit only once per fight. Additionally, deploying Pitfall and Shock Traps can offer two more opportunities to immobilize the beast.
Beware of Dragonblight
Ebony Odogaron can inflict Dragonblight, which hampers your ability to deal elemental or status effect damage. To counteract this, consume a Nulberry or equip gear with Level 3 Dragon Resistance or Blight Resistance to mitigate its effects.
Inflict Paralysis
Paralysis is particularly effective against Ebony Odogaron. This status effect will freeze the monster in place, allowing you ample time to attack. If you manage to knock it down onto roots, it might get further entangled, extending your damage window.
Aim for the Head
The head is Ebony Odogaron's most vulnerable spot, boasting a 3-star weakness. Hitting this area maximizes your damage output, though it puts you at risk of its frontal assaults. If you prefer a safer approach, targeting its forelegs and tail can still inflict damage and potentially break these parts.
