Metro 2033's "Cursed" Mission: A Comprehensive Guide

Despite its age, Metro 2033 remains a fan favorite, especially after the release of the VR title, Metro Awakening. This guide focuses on the challenging "Cursed" mission, often confusing for players due to its unclear objectives and complex station layout. This mission begins after the anomaly clears the nosalis horde, and Khan takes a railcar to the next station, Turgenevskaya (also known as The Cursed Station).

Locating the Bomb

After exiting the railcar, follow Khan to the defenders guarding the barricaded escalators. They'll explain that a bomb squad attempted to collapse the tunnel to stop the nosalis but vanished without detonating the explosives. Your task: find and detonate the bomb. Expect constant nosalis attacks; retreat to the defenders for support if overwhelmed. The bomb is located at the far end of the right-hand tunnel. Avoid the ghostly shadows directly ahead – they'll damage Artyom. Once you have the bomb, either proceed to the adjacent tunnel or retreat if necessary.

Destroying the Tunnel

To detonate the bomb, enter the left-hand tunnel (from the defenders' perspective). A cutscene will trigger, automatically placing and lighting the bomb. Escape immediately; the blast is lethal at close range. Alternatively, a grenade or pipe bomb will also collapse the tunnel. Note: Even with this tunnel destroyed, nosalises can still enter from other points.

Securing the Airlock

Another objective involves destroying an airlock to prevent further mutant incursions. Ascend the stairs on the right of the main platform to the torchlit area. Ignore the nosalises; interact with the support columns to place and detonate a pipe bomb. Escape quickly after lighting the fuse. With both entrances sealed, follow Khan to the shrine room, initiating the next mission, "Armory."
