Renowned insider and editor of Windows Central, Jez Corden, has officially confirmed that Microsoft is actively developing the Gears of War Collection. Recent speculation suggested that this compilation might exclude the franchise's iconic multiplayer mode, and Corden has verified these rumors, stating that competitive online play will not be available in the collection. However, fans can still look forward to enjoying cooperative gameplay alongside the main story campaigns.

Industry whispers hint that the much-anticipated announcement for the Gears of War Collection could be revealed at the upcoming Xbox Showcase event in June. Although specifics about the included titles are still under wraps, insiders believe that the collection may encompass the first three entries in the series.
Simultaneously, development on the next major installment, Gears of War: E-Day, is progressing using Unreal Engine 5, targeting PC and Xbox Series X/S platforms. While recent leaks suggested a potential launch later this year, Corden remains skeptical, predicting a more likely release window in 2026.
