Microsoft has set its sights on June for a major gaming event, announcing the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 and a dedicated The Outer Worlds 2 Direct. This annual tradition continues as Microsoft gears up to unveil an exciting lineup of upcoming Xbox games. The Xbox Games Showcase 2025 is scheduled for a livestream on Sunday, June 8, starting at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern / 6pm UK time.
The showcase promises an in-depth look at new titles from Microsoft's first-party studios, alongside a diverse selection of games from third-party partners worldwide. Fans can expect a rich variety of gaming experiences showcased during the event.
With a robust development pipeline, Microsoft has several high-profile projects in the works. Anticipated titles include the new Fable, delayed to 2026, the Perfect Dark reboot, inXile's Clockwork Revolution, Ninja Gaiden 4, Contraband by the Just Cause developers, Rare's Everwild, The Coalition's Gears of War: E-Day, Hideo Kojima's OD, and Undead Labs' State of Decay 3. Additionally, Double Fine is crafting a new game, adding to the excitement.
On the Activision Blizzard front, a new Call of Duty game is slated for later this year, accompanied by various releases from Blizzard. Fans of Tony Hawk can look forward to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4, set to launch in July, potentially featured in the showcase.
Bethesda enthusiasts might finally get updates on Starfield, especially regarding its PlayStation 5 release date, and possibly a glimpse of The Elder Scrolls 6.
While new Xbox hardware announcements are not expected until 2027, Microsoft might discuss Xbox-branded handhelds developed by third-party companies, keeping the gaming community intrigued.
Following the main showcase, Microsoft will host The Outer Worlds 2 Direct, focusing on the sequel to the acclaimed first-person sci-fi RPG by Obsidian. This direct will offer new gameplay, detailed insights, and developer commentary. Given The Outer Worlds 2's anticipated release later in 2025, a release date announcement is highly likely.
The Xbox Games Showcase and The Outer Worlds 2 Direct will be digital-only events, ensuring fans worldwide can access all the latest updates on Xbox's future, without the need for a physical theatre experience. Microsoft assures that the livestream will deliver comprehensive coverage, catering to global audiences.
