To begin your fishing journey in Monster Hunter Wilds, you must first encounter Kanya at the Forest Base Camp in the Scarlet Forest, accessible during Chapter 1. You'll find her fishing beside a pond at the camp. Approach her after you have full access to the camp, and she will provide you with a fishing rod, the Common Wood Minnow lure, and initiate the ‘Fishing: Life, in Microcosm’ sidequest. This quest marks the beginning of a series of fishing challenges that will unlock various bait lures, essential for catching the game's rarest fish.
Below is an exhaustive list of all confirmed fish species in Monster Hunter Wilds, along with their spawning locations, the best tools and bait to use, and the potential rewards for capturing them. Note that certain fish may only appear under specific weather conditions.
Some of these rewards, such as Golden and Platinum Scales, can be sold for substantial amounts of zenny.
