Marvel enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the return of Moon Knight to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) can rest assured that Oscar Isaac's enigmatic hero will make a comeback, albeit not through a second season of the Disney+ series. According to Brad Winderbaum, the head of Marvel Television, while a Season 2 of Moon Knight isn't on the cards, fans can look forward to seeing more of the character in future MCU projects.
Since the release of Moon Knight in 2022, Marvel Television has shifted its strategy. Previously, the studio aimed to introduce characters through dedicated series before integrating them into broader narratives, as seen with Kamala Khan's journey from the Ms. Marvel series to the feature film The Marvels. However, the current approach favors a more traditional television model, with shows designed for annual releases.
Winderbaum elaborated on this change, stating, "So I think Marvel Television has happened in waves, and I think Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future. And moving forward our priorities have shifted. We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road."
While Isaac lent his voice to Moon Knight in the third and final season of the animated series Marvel’s What If…?, there have been no updates on his return in live-action format. Meanwhile, the MCU's upcoming slate of TV shows on Disney+ includes eagerly anticipated series such as Daredevil: Born Again, premiering in March, followed by Ironheart in June, Eyes of Wakanda in August, Marvel Zombies in October, and Wonder Man in December.
Recent reports indicated that Marvel Television has temporarily halted production on three shows: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. However, Winderbaum hinted at exciting developments, revealing that the company is considering a reunion of the street-level heroes from Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist, collectively known as The Defenders.
