New Season Expected to Focus on Galar Pokémon

In a thrilling update, Niantic has confirmed the addition of new Pokémon, including Morpeko, renowned for its form-changing ability, to Pokémon GO. This announcement has sparked speculation among fans that it hints at the upcoming integration of the Dynamax and Gigantamax mechanics, which were first introduced in Pokémon Sword and Shield. These mechanics, unique to the Galar region, allow Pokémon to dramatically increase in size and stats.

"Coming soon: Morpeko will charge into Pokémon GO, changing the way you battle! Certain Pokémon—like Morpeko—will be able to change form in battle by using a Charged Attack, unleashing new possibilities for you and your battle team," Niantic announced. They also revealed that the upcoming season will feature "big changes, big battles, and…big Pokémon."

While further details remain under wraps, it's clear that these "hungry" and "big" changes are set to arrive in September with the new season. Pokémon enthusiasts are speculating that Morpeko's introduction could pave the way for other Pokémon like Mimikyu and Aegislash, along with exciting new mechanics.

The Dynamax and Gigantamax mechanics in Sword and Shield were restricted to special locations known as Power Spots. It's unclear if a similar system will be implemented in Pokémon GO, should these mechanics be confirmed. As the current Shared Skies season ends on September 3, the next season is expected to center around Galar Pokémon, heightening anticipation for these potential additions. However, these are just speculations, and we await further announcements on how these changes might be integrated into the game.

This unique Pikachu can be encountered in one-star raids or through field research tasks and, as always, has a rare Shiny version available for the luckiest of players.

Moreover, the Welcome Party Special Research tasks continue to be available, offering new trainers the chance to earn rewards by collaborating with others. However, trainers below Level 15 will find this feature locked, so make sure to level up before joining the Welcome Party!
