MultiVersus presented two last characters while fans threaten game developers

MultiVersus's story is a cautionary tale in game development, rivaling even the infamous Concord debacle. Despite its impending closure, the developers have unveiled the final two characters gracing the roster: Lola Bunny and Aquaman.

This announcement follows a surge of fan frustration, with some resorting to threats against the development team. In response, MultiVersus game director Tony Huynh issued a heartfelt message, pleading with players to refrain from such behavior.

Huynh apologized for unmet expectations regarding character additions, expressing hope that fans will still enjoy the final Season 5 content. He emphasized the multifaceted nature of character selection, clarifying his limited influence on these decisions.

The shutdown announcement also ignited controversy over unspent in-game tokens for players who purchased the premium $100 edition, a promised benefit now rendered inaccessible. This unfulfilled promise may have fueled the negative reactions and threats.
